Generously hosted by the MOZAIK – Community Development Foundation we are delighted to hold the 17th annual Grantmakers East Forum (GEF) on 19 – 21 September in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
LEARNing, REFLECTing and CONNECTing is what the GEF is all about! This echoes the continued GEF mission of supporting, learning, networking and collaborating amongst grantmakers to promote development of civil society. By providing funders with a platform to discuss their grantmaking efforts the Forum helps participants to be inspired and encourages new donor activity.
Sarajevo was selected to host this year’s GEF as the leading social and cultural centre of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with its region-wide influence in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts. In 2011, Sarajevo became the first city outside the European Union to be nominated for the European Capital of Culture in 2014. This is the place where you will find great history from Ancient Times through to the Middle Ages, from Early and Late Ottoman Era, Habsburg Empire and World War I, Yugoslavia and World War II until the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare.
Plenary sessions will focus on topics addressing grantmaking that voice the concerns and opinions of peers and investigate further the necessity and role of grantmakers in the region. This year’s programme has been adapted to incorporate more structured sessions on pressing issues offering participants a chance for more interaction and discussion.
With a packed programme, plenty of networking time and lots of opportunities to learn, reflect and connect with peers we hope that you will take away not only good memories but the beginnings of a new project or partnership to help support civil society even further.
